I didn't go to be flashy - all but one of the bikes I brought were daily riders with at least 1000 miles on them. I didn't even enter anything in the awards.<br />I just wanted to meet guys like Rody Walter ( Groovy Cycles) and Eric Noren ( Peacock Groove) and talk to all the other like-minded folks there. Quite the eclectic mix of parts on this one. Not too many bikes out there with disc brakes AND downtube shifters!<br />This rack will be just big enough to carry a small bag and a few clothes while being small enough to be unobtrusive when unloaded. Curves and rocket shape for cool points too!</p>Chauncey Matthewshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15477723562836120407noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8170998937760805164.post-68941196731839157772012-10-01T19:40:00.001-07:002012-10-01T19:40:40.170-07:00Yeah, it's really that cool. The Santa Fe Concourso....think Pebble Beach on a golf course. Where else are you going to get Al Unser and Sir Sterling Moss checking out your bikes?<br />I brought a Tour Divide racer and the retro style 29er. I left the rando bike in the truck as I forgot my other stand along with the fork struts. Didn't matter though, it was a fantastic day. From now on, I'll be posting a whole lotta pics to Flickr and just one or two here to go along with my usual lame descriptions. Then, you can click on the Flickr link below the pics to see everything. Hope everyone out there is having a great memorial day. As usual, I'm way behind on picture udates, but at least I'll get one in for May!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the touring 29er from last month after it's return from a great powder coating job by Damian Veleasquez. This one came out great, I want to keep it. Nice, light True Temper tubes, disc brakes, classic styling, and all the braze ons you could possibly want (I stopped counting at 27)..this is one for the long haul baby!</div>

Seems I have to download a bunch of new crap to be able to use Blogger correctly, and I just don't want to mess with that right now. Might be time to move this operation to a more user-friendly blog site.<br />
Until then, lets see if some pics of the latest off road tourer come through.<br />

It's really called a decaleur, but I don't like to use that term... like most French words, it sounds fruity when you say it right and then you want to smoke and be rude to people.<br />

I especially like this color. Called "Misty Purple", it looks black almost everywhere but in direct sunlight. It has a touch of metallic to it too, which all bike paint jobs should have, imho.<br />

Built for the long haul with True Temper and aircraft grade 4130 tubes. Look close and you can see how the rear derailleur cable goes in the left side of the top tube, out the right side, then into the top of the seatstay and out right above the dropout.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Whew, another month has flown by in a blur of bike building, baseball, and one more health scare in the family. But, the good word is that the problem looks to be solved and a few more custom bikes will hit the streets soon.....pics to follow, hopefully before Thanksgiving! Speaking of good words, here's Pete's review a a few pics of his road-worthy fixed (nice build by the way!):</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">" I was finally able to take the bike out for a long ride today with the friends, and I must say, it is everything I could ever ask for. It is much more responsive and nimble than my last frame, but it is still super stable. Makes riding with no hands with a slight crosswind a breeze; no pun intended. The slacker seattube really made pedaling so much easier for me; I just got to work on my strokes and get my cadence up. The longer headtube gives me more room to extended/shorten my stem. I no longer have the lower back pains I use to get. I have received nothing but compliments about it; especially about your craftsmanship. I will always be spreading the word about the great work you're doing over there and will hopefully be back when I am in the market for another bike."</div><br />

A whole lotta work (never a bad thing!) and an emergency surgery (we don't need no stinking gall bladders!) have kept new posts from getting...erm, posted.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Got a Retro/MCClung style 29er done (no pre-paint pics for that) and this Coconino style 29er heading out this week:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWqvY0wyr3HCo-F8UOzGtUSxQmJHt2jMMjMEjyY9WuAmDxtSmhGIb98ITqRQDQ6dgF9AfZ-wMk71icTLSOQe7cvDpkgoTimys1-w_GLT6vI_4pGy19kNIE-BXy3s08uCyCxmBZujgPt6w/s1600/100_3805.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" qaa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWqvY0wyr3HCo-F8UOzGtUSxQmJHt2jMMjMEjyY9WuAmDxtSmhGIb98ITqRQDQ6dgF9AfZ-wMk71icTLSOQe7cvDpkgoTimys1-w_GLT6vI_4pGy19kNIE-BXy3s08uCyCxmBZujgPt6w/s320/100_3805.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div> The original plan was for straight seat stays, but when it became evident the caliper bolt/seatstay area was a bit too tight for my tastes, I went ahead and curved the stay for clearance and to continue the curve of the top tube.<br />

Well, I'm not going to be any different! ;)<br />
